AI doesn’t rank ten practices. It names three.
I measure how often ChatGPT, Claude and Google’s AI name your practice when a local patient asks who to book with, across 36 real answers you can reproduce yourself in a minute.
Named in 1 of the 36.
The other 35 answers recommended somebody else.
One column per patient question, one row per engine. The practice is anonymised here; it received the full report, with all 36 answers unedited.
Here are the Balham practices that come up best, depending on what you need: Ten Dental + Facial (Balham) — 120 Balham High Rd. The most established “flagship” practice in the area, with a big multi-specialist team (implants, orthodontics, facial aesthetics) and consistently strong reviews. Balham Gateway Dental — 13a Station Parade. Independent practice running since the 1950s, right by the station…
Three practices named in full. The one being audited is not among them.
What changed
“Best dentist near me” used to return ten links, and ranking sixth still got you seen. An AI answer names two or three practices and stops. There is no second page to climb.
Ofcom’s 2026 media tracker puts 54% of UK adults on AI tools, up from 31% a year earlier, with three-quarters of online adults reading AI search summaries at least sometimes. So the question is no longer whether patients ask. It’s whether the answer says your name.

The measurement
An audit asks twelve questions a patient in your area would genuinely type. Each one goes to three engines. Every answer is stored verbatim, with the date it was collected.

ChatGPT, Claude and Google’s AI Overviews. Thirty-six answers in total.
You get all of them unedited, plus your share of voice against the practices named instead of you. Engines lean on a small set of signals when they recommend a local business: entity clarity on your site, structured data, Google Business Profile depth, and the third-party sources they treat as trustworthy. The report says which of those is keeping you out.
Check one of the 36 before you pay for the other 35.
Ask ChatGPT best dentist in [your area]Count the practices it names. If yours isn’t one of them, you have just reproduced the first line of your own report. That reproducibility is the whole product. Nothing in a Cited report is modelled, estimated or projected, because the only good reason to believe it is that you can check it.
What ten audits found
Ten practices audited across south London and Kent in July 2026. That is 360 answers. Presence splits in two, with a wide empty gap in the middle. A practice is either in the answer or it may as well not exist.
measured in here
The practices in the right-hand cluster are not better dentists. What they have is legibility: an unambiguous name and address, treatment pages an engine can parse, a complete profile, and citations in the places these engines go to check. That is what an audit locates, and what a sprint fixes.
The work
Audit
Twelve questions, three engines, 36 answers stored verbatim. Share of voice against the practices named instead of you, and the diagnosis. Back within a week.
Implementation sprint
The fixes the audit identified: entity clarity, structured data, Google Business Profile, the citation sources engines rely on. Scoped and quoted after the audit, never before.
Re-audit
The same twelve questions, so the comparison is like for like and you can see exactly what moved.
There is no retainer and no minimum term. I would rather be judged on whether the second audit moved than on a monthly invoice.
Who you’d be dealing with
I’m Josh Finney, an AI engineer in London. I work with the systems that produce these answers, and Cited applies that to a problem most dental marketing hasn’t caught up with. I run it on my own: the audit you get is one I ran and read myself, and if you email, I am the person who replies.
Send your practice name and area to [email protected]. If you would rather see a real report first, ask and I will send one. There is no obligation and I won’t put you into a sales sequence.
